Missionary Sisters Of The Immaculate Conception Of Monrovia Liberia: OUR NEEDS FOR THE GIRLS PROMOTION SCHOOL

Dear Donators and Benefactors, to continue our project for "The Alfonsa Cavin Girls Promotion School", we ask you to mantain our good standard for teaching and to provide a regular life standard for the school students. At this point, the following ones, are our urgent needs:
- students teachers sailory, plus one supervisor sailory, for a total of 8 persons. This costs a total of US$. 472 for month and for a nine months teaching classes means an year total of US$. 4.243,oo;
- helping each student, for an year class teaching cicle, costs for each individual student US$. 45,oo and in this case the students are 35 young women; so the yearly cost will be US$ 405,oo;
- sewing pedal machine, in a number of 25 for a each one cost of US$ 120,oo wich means a total investment of US$. 3.000,oo;
Regarding all other activities, the following ones, are the yearly cost:
- tie and dye US$. 500,oo
- interior decoration    US$. 300,oo
-cutting and packaging    US$. 500,oo
-bakery    US$. 450,oo
-hair dressing    US$. 350,oo
-soap making    US$. 700,oo
We also need ten computers desk with all the necessary accessories to keep full maintanaince.

Who are we?

We are a religious Congregation within the Church, founded by a woman, Alfonsa Cavin, on August 4th,1850. In 2000, we have been celebrated the 150th Anniversary of our religious order.
Alfonsa Cavin, the Founder of the Missionary Sisters Of The Immaculate Conception, she was French by origin and she came from a poor, itinerant, Christian and religious family. She was the 3rd born of a six children family and her father died when she was only 12 years old. Since her young age, she was very religious and she loved Mary, our mother, that is why she gave the name of the Immaculate Conception to our Congregation.
Alfonsa Cavin, was a young woman who cared about her education in spite of the difficulties of her time. The life's school was the great and main teacher of her religious inspiration, living among risks, creativity and adaptation's capacity. She always defended values like truth, justice, love and friendship.
Alfonsa Cavin, being a Sister of the Sacred Family at Bordeaux, in France, was after sent to Mataro', in Spain, on 1846, to initiate a work of education with Mataro's poor girls. And this mission, was the first sign of her vocational life. She belonged to the Congregation of the Sacred Family for a period of 4 years. So, after the first job assignment, next to Mataro's poor girls, she started, in 1850, The religious Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception. The new Religious Congregation was born and marked with a strong missionary spirit. On 1885, the first Missionary Sisters were sent from Spain to Equatorial Guinea, in Africa. Those sisters were so the first Missionary Religious Women who came to Africa. Mother Alfonsa Cavin, the Founder, lived in the Congregation for a period of 18 years and later on, in 1868, she died on January the 3rd, of the same year, in Logrono, Spain.
